While derailleur adjustment requires a little more dexterity, assembly is relatively straightforward. Here's how:
- Time : 10 min
- Level : Easy
- Tools : Allen key set | Grease | Torque wrench
Steps
Most of the time, your front derailleur comes with a plastic shim placed in the mechanism to hold it in position for adjustment, so make sure you don't remove it just yet.
- Lightly grease the derailleur.
- In the case of a "braze-on" system, start screwing the derailleur bolt onto the bike. For a clamp system, pass the clamp around the frame, then start tightening the clamping screw.
Probikeshop tip: for the time being, there's no need to tighten the derailleur bolts permanently, as you'll need to adjust it later.
Now that the derailleur is in place, all you have to do is mount your levers to adjust your derailleur.
