SRAM - Gearing specialist

SRAM owes its name to an acronym formed from the names of its three founders: Scott, Ray and Sam. The brand was founded in the United States (Chicago) in 1987 and a year later revolutionised the gear-shifting system by launching the Grip Shift twist grips. Ten years later, SRAM absorbed the German brand Sachs (spare parts) in order to open up the European market and offer complete groupsets to all MTB and road cycling enthusiasts.

SRAM – A leader in drivetrains

SRAM, wishing to expand its road range, introduced its Double Tap system in 2005: a single lever on the brake lever to shift up or down. Very intuitive and lightweight, this innovative system was a great success and has since been used on all of the brand's road groupsets (Sram Red, Sram Force, Sram Rival...) which you can find on Probikeshop. In MTB, the American brand continues to offer Grip Shift twist grips on its XX, X0, X9… groupsets.

SRAM – A wide range of spare parts

Always with the ambition to expand its range with the best quality available, SRAM acquires the brands RockShox (mtb fork and mtb shock absorber), Avid (brakes), Truvativ (components) or Zipp (bike wheels) during the 2000s. All these spare parts available on Probikeshop make the American brand a leader in the drivetrain and spare parts market. But SRAM has no intention of stopping there and promises to continue its growth in order to fully equip our bikes!
