How to fit mountain bike brake pads?

Remove the front wheel.
Using the piston pusher, reposition the pistons at the bottom of the caliper.
Remove the brake pad assembly by unscrewing the 3 mm Allen screw, and removing the opposite safety pin with the needle-nose pliers. You can then remove the whole assembly: left-hand pad, right-hand pad and spring. Probikeshop tip: A brake pad should be changed when the lining is 0.5 mm thick, or when you start to hear the spring touching the brake pad. disc.
Before changing brake pads, take the opportunity to clean the caliper and pistons with a specific cleaner/degreaser for this type of dirt.
We're now going to install the new pads. Insert the spring between the two pads, then push the pads to the bottom of the caliper. Probikeshop tip: Be sure to observe the side markings: "R" (right) for the right side and "L" (left) for the left side on both the pads and the spring, to ensure the safety of your assembly.
Replace the retaining screw (partially tighten) and the safety pin which holds the pads together in case the screw is loosened. Tighten the retaining screw to a final torque of 3 Nm, using a torque wrench.
All that's left is to put the front wheel back on and check the braking efficiency.

Your new brake pads are now installed. We advise you to carry out the running-in to optimize braking performance.
