How do you adjust your position on your road bike?

You've just finished assembling your road bikeor the position on the one you already have isn't optimal? Here's how to get the basic set-up right.

  • Time : 30 min
  • Level : Easy
  • Tools : Measuring tape | Thin, rigid backing (notebook type) | Spirit level | Set of Allen keys | Plumb line

Steps

  1. Set the saddle height using the following formula: inseam height x 0.885 = saddle height "axis of bottom bracket-bottom bracket saddle ».

  2. Adjust the saddle angle: make sure it's horizontal.
Probikeshop tip: for women, it's best to tilt the saddle slightly forward.

  3. With the pedal crank horizontal, set the saddle back. Once seated on the saddle, use the plumb line to find the position so that the front of your knee is aligned with the pedal axle.

  4. Once you're on the bike, adjust the handlebar inclination so that the low position is comfortable.

  5. Then position the levers so that the top of them is between 1 and 2 cm above the handlebars.
Probikeshop tip: fine-tune these settings according to how you feel after a few rides.
