For greater rigidity and durability, the chainrings are made from a single block of aluminum. The result is faster, smoother and more precise shifting. Combined with the X-Range cassette, the chainrings now allow a 10-tooth sprocket start. This combination requires fewer sprocket changes to maintain pedaling cadence after changing chainring. There's a 13-tooth gap between the 2 chainrings, for a more progressive spacing.
