Steps
For a thorough clean, it is necessary to remove the derailleur from the bike.
- First, roughly clean the derailleur.
- Remove the jockey wheels, taking care to note the correct orientation for reassembly.
- Clean the jockey wheels, cage and derailleur thoroughly. Probikeshop tip: take the opportunity to check the condition of the jockey wheels and replace them if necessary.
- Reassemble everything with grease.
Your derailleur is now perfectly clean; all that remains is to refit it to the bike, lubricate your drivetrain and then check that everything is functioning correctly. You may need to fine-tune the adjustment of your derailleur.
