How do you maintain and check your mountain bike regularly?

Maintaining your MOUNTAIN BIKE is essential if you want to keep it in good condition for as long as possible, but also to detect any problems and avoid unpleasant surprises in the middle of a ride.

Steps

  1. Wash your bike with a jet of water and specific cleaning products to avoid damaging seals, brake pads or paintwork. Use brushes to clean all the nooks and crannies, such as the bottom bracket, chain or even the mountain bike cassette.
    Probikeshop tip: avoid using a high-pressure cleaner, which can damage seals, bearings, paintwork or stickers.

  2. Use a rag to dry sensitive parts such as bearings, the mountain bike transmission transmission and suspension to prevent rust. Probikeshop tip: take the opportunity to check the appearance of the parts and the welds on your frame to detect any problems.

  3. Once dry, you can shine and protect your frame's paintwork. MTB with a polish and a clean cloth.

  4. Lubricate the following points:
    - Transmission with specific oil;
    - Suspension plungers with specific oil.

  5. Now clean and lubricated, check the following points:
    - Tighten your wheel axles, brake calipers/discs and cockpit components;
    - Tighten all screws on your bike;
    - Wear of brake pads;
    - Wear on your transmission;
    - Steering play ;
    - Wheel play ;
    - Suspension play ;
    - Bottom bracket play.
