How to fit MTB brake discs?

Fitting a MTB disc is an operation within everyone's reach, but requires a specific tool.
Here is how to do it.

  • Time: 15 min
  • Level: Easy
  • Tools: T25 Torx key (for 6-bolt discs) | Torque wrench | Cassette tool (for Center-Lock discs)

Steps

  1. Place the disc onto the MTB wheel in the direction of rotation indicated.
  2. Tighten the 6 bolts (with a T25 Torx key) or the Center-Lock lockring (with a cassette tool), following the torque specified by the manufacturer, according to the model you have.
Probikeshop tip: it is recommended not to grease the disc bolts to avoid getting grease on the braking surface during use.

Your disc is now fitted. After running it in, it is necessary to check the tightening. You are now ready to ride your mountain bike.
