How to fit road bike handlebar tapes?

Visit handlebar tapes provide a comfortable riding position and add a personal touch to your bike. Here's how to apply them.

Steps

  1. Clean the part of the hanger on which the ribbons will be placed.

  2. Attach the sheaths with adhesive tape A.


  3. Roll up the casserole on itself.

  4. Place a strip about 10 cm behind the lever to cover the clamp. B.
    Probikeshop tip: this band is sometimes supplied with your hanger tapes.
  5. Start winding the ribbon on the hanger, starting at the bottom and leaving the ribbon about 1 cm above the hanger. C.
    Probikeshop tip: some hanger tapes feature a self-adhesive strip for easy installation.


  6. Then continue wrapping the tape around the handlebars, stretching it slightly and overlapping it by about 1/3 so that the handlebars are well covered.

  7. When you're about 5 cm from the stem, cut the tape at an angle for a better finish, then secure it with the adhesive tape supplied with the hanger tapes. D.


  8. Place the plug by tucking the ribbon protrusion into the hanger. E.


  9. Replace the lever cover.

  10. Repeat for the other ribbon.
