SRAM S100, S200, S500

The new guide to understanding your transmission

Clarity for performance

For years, the names of the SRAM ranges (SX, NX, GX, X01) have accompanied the greatest victories on the world's trails. In 2026, SRAM is taking the next step by radically simplifying its catalog to give you an instant read on performance.

Eagle S-Series evolves the former Eagle and Eagle AXS into three levels: S100, S200 and S500 - creating a uniquesimplified, compatible transmission ecosystem.

Why the change?

The mountain bike world is evolving: total integration, AXS electronic shifting and extreme "Full Mount" robustness. To keep pace with these technological revolutions, SRAM has adopted a universal digital system. No need to decipher complex acronyms: the higher the number, the greater the range, lightness and precision.

What's new for you?

Whether you're a competitor looking for the ultimate weight gain with the S500a regular user who demands the legendary reliability of the series S200or a newcomer discovering the trails with the S100This new hierarchy has been designed with you in mind.

Expert tip: Most S200 and S500 components share the same ecosystem.

Don't hesitate to mix series to optimize your budget: an S200 derailleur for sturdiness combined with an S100 shifter to reduce costs, or an S100 derailleur for sturdiness and an S200 shifter for weight savings.

S200 SERIES

A direct descendant of the legendary GX group, the S200 is the real
"best-seller" for enthusiasts. It's the strategic choice for
riders who do a lot of driving and require equipment that can take the strain

Frequently asked questions

What happens to my favorite ranges (SX, NX, GX, X01, XX1)?

Rest assured, the Eagle spirit remains the same! SRAM has simply simplified the
"naming to make the range more legible:

S100 : The new entry-level standard. More robust and easier to adjust than the old SX.

S200 : The successor to the GX. It's the all-rounder with the best performance/price ratio on the market.

S500 : The gateway to electronics AXS for frames not compatible with the new UDH system. You get wireless precision at an ultra-competitive price.

Is SRAM discontinuing classic Eagle drivetrains?

Not at all! SRAM is aware that not everyone has a SRAM frame.
UDH-compatible. The S100, S200 and S500 series are here to help you
bring your existing bikes to life. It's the ideal solution for modernizing a "Mullet" assembly (29" wheel in front / 27.5" in back) or replacing a damaged component on an existing 12-speed drivetrain.

Can I mix the new S-Series components with my old Eagle parts?

Yes, compatibility is total!

The S100, S200 and S500 series are an integral part of the Eagle 12-speed ecosystem.

  • S200 and S500 derailleurs: Compatible with all Eagle cassettes in the catalog.
  • S100 derailleur : Compatible with 11-50d and 10-50d cassettes.
  • Joysticks : You can use your old GX shifter with a new S200 derailleur without any problem.

Can I mix the S-Series with the new "Transmission" groupsets (T-Type)?

The overall answer is no. The range S-Series (Drivetrain) and the Transmission (T-Type / 70 / 90) use different printing ratios.

You must use an Eagle Drivetrain shifter with an Eagle Drivetrain derailleur (S100, S200, S500).

The only exception: Pedals Eagle Transmission can be mounted on a bike equipped with S-Series (Boost 148mm center distance), but the reverse is not possible due to the profile of the teeth.

Our advice: For optimum performance and warranty, don't mix these two ecosystems.

What is the "UDH Half Mount" system of the S100 derailleur?

It's a hybrid innovation! If your frame is UDH-compatible, the S100 derailleur rests on the dropout to offer superior protection against shocks compared with a conventional mount.

It's stronger than a standard bracket.

Please note: unlike the "Full Mount" (S-Series 70/90), you still need the stop and encompassing screws to adjust it.

If I have to sum up, which band should I choose?

  • Want wireless electronics on a standard frame? S500 AXS.
  • Looking for the best reliability/price ratio for everyday use? S200.
  • Rebuilt on a tight budget but want something solid? S100.

Can I install the UDH Half Mount on my current derailleur (GX, X01, AXS)?

No. This technology is exclusively reserved for the S100.

Due to structural differences in the screws and upper joint, the Half Mount system cannot be adapted to older ranges or to the S200/S500 series.

Good to know: If your S100 derailleur is not equipped with the Half Mount, you can upgrade your assembly with the official spare part (ref : 11.7518.120.000), provided your frame is UDH-compatible.

Is it possible to upgrade my current Eagle group to the new part-by-part "Transmission" system?

Unfortunately not.

The system Eagle Transmission (T-Type) is based on a radically different architecture (no derailleur hanger, direct axle mounting). It is not possible to carry out a partial upgrade (e.g. keep your old cassette with a Transmission derailleur). To switch to this technology, a complete transition is required.

My bike isn't UDH-compatible. Will I have to change my frame?

Absolutely not! This is precisely the aim of the new S-Series range. SRAM has designed the S100, S200 and S500 series to enable owners of bikes with standard derailleur hanger brackets to continue riding with a modern, high-performance and reliable drivetrain for many years to come.

What's the difference between Half Mount (S100) and Full Mount?

This is an important technical point:

  • Full Mount (top-of-the-range transmission): No stop adjustment screw required.
  • Half Mount (S100): Although it offers enhanced protection via the UDH interface, it still requires conventional setting via the stop and cover screw to work perfectly.

Workshop tip: If you have a UDH-compatible frame but do not wish to invest in a complete "Transmission" group, the derailleur S100 with Half Mount option is today's best compromise: you benefit from the solidity of the UDH interface while retaining the simplicity of the classic Eagle ecosystem!

What are the concrete improvements to S-Series components?

Beyond the name, SRAM has revised several key points to improve your experience in the field:

  • Shorter cranksets : In line with the current trend for improved ground clearance and ergonomics, the S100 and S200 cranksets are now available in sizes ranging from 155 mm to 175 mm
  • New HG cassette : The cassette PG-1210 becomes the benchmark for standard freewheel bodies (HG), offering a robust and reliable range from 11 to 50 teeth
  • Matching finish : The designs have been unified so that you can mix and match an S200 crankset with an S500 derailleur while maintaining an aesthetically coherent bike.
  • Robustness S100 : The S100 derailleur has been reinforced to offer far greater durability than previous entry-level models.

What's the "Stealth" design on the new S100 and S200 controllers?

The design Stealth has been designed to streamline your cockpit. The joysticks are oriented so that the cable runs parallel to the brake line. The result: a cleaner, more modern and better integrated cockpit.

Are S-Series controllers more comfortable?

Yes. SRAM has taken advantage of this launch to incorporate the ergonomic advances of the high-end groupsets (70/90) on the S100 and S200 shifters:

  • Longer levers : Shifting gears requires less effort.
  • Reduced race : The thumb has less distance to cover to shift gears, making it easier to hold on to the handlebars in technical sections.
  • Adaptability : Ergonomics have been reworked to suit all hand sizes, from the smallest to the largest.

Can I match my derailleur shifter with my seatpost adjuster?

Absolutely. The new S100 and S200 shifters adopt the same aesthetic language as SRAM's mechanical telescopic seatpost shifters. The result is a more visually coherent and ergonomic cockpit.
