How to choose your MTB size?

Choosing the right MTB frame size for your bike is crucial — it determines your comfort and performance. There are several ways to determine your MTB size; the most reliable is to go by your inseam measurement.

  • Time: 10 min
  • Level: easy

Steps

  1. Get a tape measure and a thin, rigid object (a notebook, for example).

  2. Barefoot, stand with your back against a wall, heels touching it and 5 cm apart.

  3. Place the rigid object between your thighs, making sure it is horizontal and in contact with your perineum.

  4. Measure the distance between the floor and the top of your rigid object. This will give you your inseam measurement.

  5. Refer to the table below to find your bike size, which also corresponds to the seat tube size.
Probikeshop tip: depending on the MTB brand, not all sizes are necessarily available — in that case, choose the closest size. If you are between two sizes, refine your choice using your height.
