How to assemble your complete road bike?

Your new road bike has just been delivered and you can't wait to see how it performs on your favourite routes? Here is a video to help you complete the assembly yourself.

  • Time: 1h30
  • Level: Easy
  • Tools: Wire cutters | Allen key set | Torque wrench | Grease (and specific assembly paste for carbon frames)

Steps

  1. Unpack the bike then cut the packaging ties, taking care not to damage the paintwork and hoses.

  2. Grease the inside of the seat tube, then fit the saddle/seatpost assembly into the frame.
Probikeshop tip: on a carbon frame, use assembly paste rather than grease for this step.

  3. Fit the front wheel after greasing the axle first.

  4. Fit the cockpit onto the stem.

  5. Grease the thread of the pedal axles then fit them, making sure to observe the correct fitting direction for each one.
Probikeshop tip: After one or two rides, your bike will "settle in" — check all fastenings to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Your bike is now assembled. All that remains is to adjust your riding position.
