How to fit road bike tubular tires?

Gluing a tubular tire can be a complicated operation for a novice. Here's how to do it right.

Steps

 

Please note! Before gluing your hose, place it on your wheel without glue, inflated to 8 or 9 bars, for at least 24 hours to allow it to relax.

  1. Apply a thin layer of glue on the part of the hose inflated to 2 bars and on the rim, then leave to dry for 24 h.
    Probikeshop tip: this step is essential to avoid dejamming.

  2. Now apply a 2nd coat of glue evenly to the casing and rim, then leave to stand for 10 min.

  3. Start mounting the hose on the rim, starting at the valve and making sure it's centered on the rim. rim

  4. Finish fitting it to the rim as you would a tire

  5. Go all the way around the wheel to re-center the tubular tyre on the rim if necessary.

  6. Inflate the hose to 4 bar, then fine-tune the centering

  7. Now apply a pressure of 9 bars and allow the glue to dry for 24 hours before using your wheel.
    Probikeshop tip: take the opportunity to clean any traces of glue from the rim before it dries.
