How to fit mountain bike skates?

If your ATV is equipped with V-brake brakes brakes, here's how to replace them.

Steps

Caution: visit V-brake brake pads brake pads have a mounting direction that can be easily identified by the letter L for Left, or R for Right, indicated directly on the pad. If the letter is not visible, you can also tell by the shape: the longest part of the pad should be towards the rear.

Probikeshop tip: you'll find that there are 2 sizes of concave washers. Depending on the width of your rim, you'll need to place the thinner or thicker one against the pad to ensure the smallest possible gap between rim and pad.
  1. Fit the new pads in the following stacking order, starting from the rubber and working towards the nut:
    a concave washer / a convex washer / the brake caliper / a convex washer / a concave washer / a classic washer / and finally the nut.
  2. Apply the brake lightly, then position the brake pad correctly so that it is aligned with the rim and about 1 mm from the tire.
  3. Hold the brake firmly, then tighten the brake pad screw.

The brake pads are now installed. It's important to check tightening after a few brake applications.
