How to assemble a complete MTB?

Your new MTB has just been delivered and you can't wait to build it up?
Here is a video to help you complete the assembly yourself.

  • Time: 1h30 min
  • Level: Easy
  • Tools: Wire cutters | Allen key set | Torque wrench | Grease (and specific assembly paste for carbon frames) | 15 mm pedal spanner

Steps

  1. Unpack the bike then cut the packaging ties, taking care not to damage the paintwork and the hydraulic hoses.

  2. Grease the inside of the seat tube, then insert the saddle/seatpost assembly into the MTB frame.
Probikeshop tip: on a carbon frame, use specific assembly paste (not grease) for this step.

  3. Fit the front wheel, greasing the axle beforehand.

  4. Fit the cockpit to the MTB stem.

  5. Grease the thread on the pedal axle then fit them, making sure to observe the correct fitting direction for each one.
Probikeshop tip: after one or two rides, your bike will "settle in" — check all tightening points at that stage to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Your bike is now assembled. All that remains is to set up your riding position.
