The USWE Compact Lumbar 1.5L hydration bladder is a high-performance reservoir developed in collaboration with Hydrapak, the global leader in the sector. Its horizontal ("lumbar") shape is specifically designed to lower the centre of gravity as much as possible by concentrating the weight of the liquid around the hips. It is the ideal replacement or upgrade part for your USWE hydration hip pack or any other compatible hip pack.
Made from ultra-robust and flexible TPU, this bladder integrates the Plug-N-Play™ quick-connect system, which allows the tube to be clipped and unclipped with a single gesture, even when the reservoir is full, greatly facilitating refilling at feed stations. Its large sliding top opening guarantees a perfect seal and allows it to be turned completely inside out for thorough cleaning and drying.
Which USWE bag or hip pack models is this 1.5L bladder compatible with? Its wide, low-profile shape is specifically optimised for the large USWE Zulo 6L hydration hip pack. It can also fit in certain backpacks from the brand that feature a low horizontal lumbar compartment. However, it is too wide for the Zulo 2L model (which uses the 1.0L version).
How do I prevent the water from tasting of plastic at first? Although the medical-grade TPU is designed to be neutral, it is advisable to clean the bladder before first use. Fill it three-quarters full with warm water, a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and a dash of lemon juice. Leave it to act for a few hours, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and the job is done.
Can you put hot drinks in or freeze the bladder? Yes, the bladder has excellent thermal resistance. You can freeze it to have ice-cold water on hot summer days (make sure to fill it only two-thirds full before freezing, as water expands in volume). It also withstands hot liquids up to a maximum temperature of 60°C.
