The WOLFTOOTH Premium 1"1/8 lower cup for external headset is precision-made directly at the factory in Minneapolis (USA).
Designed to be lightweight, strong and durable, the cup uses aeronautical-grade 6061 aluminium. This headset cup features three levels of advanced sealing to protect the bearing from the elements and extend its service life. This EC34 model rests on a stainless steel Enduro bearing with excellent longevity.
What type of bike is this product intended for? The EC34 standard is the quintessential classic standard for vintage road bikes, track bikes, as well as many touring, gravel or fixie bikes using slim steel (Reynolds, Chromoly) or titanium frames. It is found on classic road bikes or high-end urban bikes rather than on modern full-suspension mountain bikes (which use much wider headtubes for tapered steerers).
What does the "30" in the code EC34 / 30 mean? The number 30 refers to the inner diameter (in millimetres) of the lower bearing, which fits perfectly onto the Crown Race measuring 30 mm, installed at the base of a standard 1-inch fork steerer.
Can I fit this headset on a tapered fork? No. This model is exclusively designed for forks with a traditional straight 1-inch steerer. Tapered steerers (1-1/8" - 1.5") require much larger lower cup diameters (such as EC44 or EC49).
