Description
The MAVIC CROSSMAX ULTIMATE 29" front wheel is designed for competitive cross-country riding and prioritises lightness, responsiveness and precision. At just 1080 g per pair, it features a fully optimised design to reduce rotating mass and promote sharp acceleration, particularly on climbs and when accelerating again.
The Adaptive Layup carbon rim combines different T700, T1000 and 3K fibres to achieve a balance of low weight, lateral stiffness and vibration absorption. Its 30 mm internal width and hooked Tubeless Ready design are suited to modern XC tyres, with a recommended width of 2.3 to 2.4 inches.
The carbon spokes combined with titanium nipples help reduce overall weight while ensuring an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio. Each wheel uses 20 two-cross spokes, a configuration designed to optimise power transfer, steering precision and line-holding in technical sections.
The ultra-light aluminium hub is equipped with Mavic Ceramic bearings, while the 15x110 mm Boost axle ensures compatibility with the relevant MTB standards.
Hand-built and then checked in Mavic's Chavanod laboratory, the Crossmax Ultimate wheels undergo rigorous validation. They accept tubeless, tubeless-ready or inner-tube tyres and are rated ASTM Level 3, with a maximum load of 135 kg.

Key features
Adaptive Layup technology optimises each layer of carbon fibre to achieve the ideal balance between lightness, lateral stiffness and vibration absorption. The result is a rim offering remarkable steering precision, exceptional responsiveness and race-proven efficiency.
Carbon spokes combined with titanium nipples significantly reduce rotating mass while providing exceptional stiffness. Their specific 20 two-cross spoke lacing pattern delivers the ideal level of compliance to maintain total control right to the final lap, even in the most technical sections.
Mavic Ceramic bearings: Low friction + absolute precision = consistent performance, ride after ride.
Fully assembled in the Mavic laboratory: each wheel follows a rigorous, controlled Mavic assembly protocol (tensioning, balancing, dynamic validation), with nothing left to chance.
