Reviews

Completely satisfied

"Excellent value for the money. This is my second pair. They've never let me down. Consistent, durable, responsive, and powerful braking."

Coco2b (5/5)

Battery dead!!!

"I bought this in a hurry to replace a faulty Elixir X9 rear brake. It arrived in a timely manner, the price was more than reasonable, and I was able to install the brake in time for my next ride. Thanks, Probikeshop."

2minic (4/5)

smooth braking

"I just bought this product and have only used it once so far. The braking is perfectly fine and more gradual than my old Formula K18s, which were more aggressive."

Michague (4/5)

The Best of the Best!

"I've been using these all year round, including during the Alpe d'Huez Megavalanche. No complaints... I paired them with the M8020 4-piston model for the front. A great setup!"

Yanni12 (5/5)

Brake hard

"Great, it brakes really well. The only problem is that after two weeks of use, the lever broke—something inside snapped... so the brake is out of commission. I'm waiting to send it in under warranty and, more importantly, to receive a goodwill gesture."

D4rkxd3ad (3/5)

Quick installation, effective braking

"I bought this item three weeks ago and have already tested it on four rides. Replacing my Formula RX brakes, these XT brakes mounted on my 180mm rotors do the job just fine."

Tropstunt (5/5)

Powerful braking, but. . . .

"I installed this caliper with the Human RT86 disc (recommended) in 180mm and with the adapter from the same brand. Like many other users, when installing it, the top of the disc rubs against the caliper... Fortunately, I had the right washers, which allowed me to raise the adapter, but whether the problem stems from the adapter or the rotor, I find this unacceptable for a brand like Shimano, especially in this price range... Once installed, the braking performance is very good."

Rock82400 (4/5)

Powerful and durable

"Installed as 200mm front and rear on an AE mountain bike (you need that much to stop the combined 130 kg of the bike and rider), with discs from the same series, after several rides, no fading, no overheating even at the end of a (long) descent. The bite is sharp but progressive—it’s not ON/OFF—but be careful not to go in too aggressively, or you’re guaranteed to slide. Although it’s widely touted that bleeding isn’t necessary when adjusting the line length, a good bleed (using the essential funnel tool) helped eliminate the slightly spongy feel at the end of the ride."

Galak (5/5)

f

"I bought these brakes two weeks ago to replace my Formula Oro K18s, which were very spongy. I'm really happy with the Shimano XT—they brake very well, bleeding the lines is easy, and the reach adjustment is convenient, which I didn't have on my Formulas."

Sullivan (4/5)

Excellent quality

"Shimano quality as expected, beautiful finish, and excellent braking performance—quite progressive. Not quite as aggressive as my old Formula CR3 brakes, but maybe they just need a bit more break-in time. . . The 170 cm hose is a bit long even for my size L 29er mountain bike, but it’s easy to trim. As for the website, it’s always top-notch—the package was shipped the same day and arrived in Corsica two days later. Very satisfied, as usual."
