Description

The ROCKSHOX Monarch XX shock absorber is a high-performance, responsive, easy-to-adjust and easy-to-use model, ideal for Cross-Country.

The XLoc Sprint remote hydraulic control allowing the suspension to be locked while riding, with a simple press of the thumb on a lever on the handlebar, is very comfortable and prioritises efficiency and speed.

Thanks to the Solo Air pneumatic spring, the travel is supple and light, whilst the Dual Flow hydraulic damping ensures control of the beginning-of-stroke rebound (small bumps) and end-of-stroke rebound (large bumps), for optimal suspension whatever the terrain.

Need more information?

"Hello, I need some more information. I own a 2013 Scott Spatial 920. On my mountain bike, the control is paired with the La Fourche system (3 positions: locked, intermediate, or full suspension) size 165/38. 1) Is this shock compatible with my bike? 2) If so, since I already have the lever installed, is it possible to purchase it without the control unit? I look forward to your response. Best regards, J. F"

"It looks sleek and high-performance. It hasn't been used much so far."

Poor-quality shock absorber!!

"Poor-quality product!! Sent it back for repair after just one month of use and five rides of about 45 km because the handlebar control stopped working and the shock absorber got stuck permanently. Plus, there was oil on the piston after every ride, and the rebound adjustment knob is really, really stiff!! My bike is now out of commission."

Very good

"Excellent—works like a charm, ships quickly, and I'm very satisfied with it."

The lock is not fully engaged

"When you lock the shock, it doesn't lock completely—the travel is reduced to 30% of the unlocked travel. I have another XX model that actually locks all the way. According to Probike, the new models no longer lock completely, unlike the older ones... It’s a bit disappointing that this wasn’t specified beforehand."

Flexibility and Rigidity at Your Fingertips

"I bought this at the beginning of the year for a major upgrade to my 26" Rockrider 6.4, paired with a 120mm Reba RL fork with handlebar-mounted controls. . . it’s awesome—my bike feels smooth and comfortable again; within a few meters, the bike stiffens up and you can really push down on the pedals. As for the length of the control cable, you can cut it and bleed the system, but based on the comments, it’s a bit “complicated,” so for my part, I opted for a loop at the handlebars secured with electrical tape, and we’ll see during the service with a full flush ;-) You have to set the SAG right—for me, around 25%—and you get a smooth ride while still being “stiff” (no bobbing). As for the bushings, they’re already on the shock with an 8mm diameter (for my purchase with a 190/51 travel), so you can skip buying them on the site."

Excellent

"This was my first shock absorber from this line, and I'm completely satisfied—it provides a level of comfort I couldn't do without. The installation was more complicated than I expected."

Fabien (5/5)

great

"The handlebar-mounted shock absorber lock is fantastic—it's a real pleasure to go for a ride. It responds very well once you've found the right pressure for your body type. Thanks!"
